Rita de Almeida Leite, Porto, 1996.
Graduated in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto , in the field of Painting. Also completed a Post-Graduation in Fine Arts at the same institution.
Her work often takes shape through Painting, Photography, Engraving and from the production of artist’s books . Her object of interest arises from the concrete and everyday stimuli – from a careful observation of light, nature, and from the collection of marks or traces that these elements reveal or leave in their passage. Her research focuses on the unfolding of image and memory, on impression and evidence, the dichotomies of presence vs. absence, visibility vs. invisibility.
In the field of Photography, she has worked exclusively with analogue processes, including cyanotype, anthotype and chemigrams.
