Orquídea
Description: Placemat + Napkin
Text: “The drawing is made by Sofia, the embroidery by Marlene, the fabrics by adalberto…
You can also draw lines with lines
The idea arises from a symbiosis between the professional and family worlds, memory and present, drawing and the art of embroidery.
A tribute to my grandmother’s embroidery, weaving with thread and colour the memory of well-being at the table.
The product emerges from a journey of exploration between drawing and the vision of textiles as a privileged support for a plastic experience that can transform space.
The result is a full, vibrant patch of color printed on fabric and overlaid with black thread embroidery that completes and complements the design.
The 1st series resulted in a collaboration with Marlene, an embroiderer, who used thread to create a table set – napkins and placemats – on a natural cotton and linen base, complemented with the printed color patch.
Inspired by Sarah Affonso’s words:
I dared to embroider and exchange the pencil for the needle, the inks for the print, the notebook for the fabric…”
This piece is the result of the Open Call launched for SCAR-ID’s 10th anniversary.
