
In 2017, as an extension of the products already presented in SCAR-ID, its founders launched ATER by SCAR-ID, a sub-brand where they explore a range of products and limited editions, through specific partnerships with local designers and makers. Fashion, jewellery, accessories, homeware and recently, ceramics were the areas already explored in the brand’s four years. Its name ater, which means matte black in Latin, reflects a strong but discreet, expressive but delicate image, always presented in the brand’s identity.
All ceramic pieces are unique and the expressiveness of manual modelling is explored through the pressure of the finger marks, which make all the objects different and unrepeatable. The monochromatic pieces seek a certain compositional balance in a design that mixes functionality with the formal, almost sculptural, research of each object. The materials (stoneware and earthenware), the colors (white, black, night blue and natural) and the glazes (glossy and matte) were chosen precisely to accentuate the manual processes and highlight the identity and the authorial presence in each piece.
